Resenha: Uncommon Criminals

Review: Uncommon Criminals

Title: Uncommon Criminals (Heist Society #2)
Author: Ally Carter
Genre: YA
Rating: 5/5
Cover: 10/10

As delicious as its predecessor Hesit Society, Uncommon Criminals continues to follow the young Kat Bishop as she jumps from country to country, following the family job: stealing.
When an old woman finds her at the airport in New York, where a not-at-all-happy handsome friend, W. W. Hale the Fifth is there to welcome her home, and the woman uses the name Visili Romani - a sacred name within thiefs - when asking Kat to do a job for her, things seem complicated.
But when Kat, Hale and Kat's cousin, Gabrielle, manage to steal the Cleopatra Emerald for the old lady, and Kat discovers that she has indeed been conned into stealing the emerald, things get nastily complicated.

How far can a group of adolescents go?
How far is Kat willing to go to right her wrong, and follow what Romani - this time the real one - told her to do?
And, of course, what on earth will she do about Hale?

A perfect read for a rainy day in which one is stuck to bed due to an unfortunate dinner the previous night that didn't sit too well in the stomach in the morning.

Pottermore

A few days ago, the entire Potterbase was abuzz with excitment over more than just the beginning of the midnight showing tickets for Deathly Hallows Part II.
Melissa Anelli (remember her? She the author of Harry, A History which I'm giving away right here!) tweeted about this special quest for 10 letters which would form a word that were supposed to give us a hint about this mysterious new announcment J.K. Rowling would do soon.
The fanbase fell on the news like a bunch of water-starved plants after four years in the desert, eager for that tingling of anxiety and uncertainty swirling around Rowling once more - and what was likely to be the last time with anything Potter-related.
By the end of the day, we had a word: Pottermore.

Tune in again in 5 days to know more about this mystery project of the woman who charmed the world, or follow Pottermore on twitter: @pottermore.

Night Shift by Lilith Saintcrow

Tile: Night Shift
Author: Lilith Saintcrow
Rating: 4.5/5 (The book... wow. Just wow. But I feel like the love story part of it was the norm: weird, a little rushed... eh.)
Genre: Adult, Paranormal

Most commonly known by the name Lili St. Crow for the bestselling YA series Strange Angels, Lilith Saintcrow is the name Lili uses to write her adult novels.

The first one of the Jill Kismet series, composed of five books, is called Night Shift, and boy... it blew my mind away.

Lately I've been confronted with a huge unease as to what I want to read. It's so easy to come across the same kind of thing - normal girl, hot supernatural guy, yadda yadda yadda. I couldn't stand it anymore, and so I was taking refuge in chick lit, pure and simple, because let's face it, that sutff never gets old.
But when I decided to return to the world of the supernatural, I wanted something... fresh, or as fresh as it can get nowadays. So I picked out Lili, who I knew from Strange Angels, has a taste for the gory, and that in and of itself is pretty refreshing.

Night Shift tells the story of Jillian Kismet, a Hunter who makes sure none of the nasty things that go bump in the night make too much damage to the human population of her city. But she's not a normal hunter - she made a deal with the devil to make her stronger.
The problem is, now that hellbreed she made a deal with, Perry, is getting elusive in his doings, and things are getting very, very messy.
