Cover Love: Dangerous Lies

Stella Gordon is not her real name. Thunder Basin, Nebraska, is not her real home. This is not her real life.
After witnessing a lethal crime, Stella Gordon is sent to the middle of nowhere for her own safety before she testifies against the man she saw kill her mother’s drug dealer.
But Stella was about to start her senior year with the boyfriend she loves. How can she be pulled away from the only life she knows and expected to start a new one in Nebraska? Stella chafes at her protection and is rude to everyone she meets. She’s not planning on staying long, so why be friendly? Then she meets Chet Falconer and it becomes harder to keep her guard up, even as her guilt about having to lie to him grows.
As Stella starts to feel safer, the real threat to her life increases—because her enemies are actually closer than she thinks…
Dangerous Lies is due to be published November 10th.

Black Ice

Title: Black Ice
Author: Becca Fitzpatrick
Genre: YA
Rating: 5/5
Cover: 8/10

I was sent an ARC of this book via netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

I'm going to risk sounding like Janice from FRIENDS during this review, but OH. MY. GOD.

I just... I don't even know where to begin properly. I literally just finished it, and my mind is a jumble of images. What a ride! Becca Fitzpatrick, I'm not sure what I was expecting after Hush, Hush, but it wasn't this. I think what surprised me the most was the darkness of the book. It's everywhere, and by the time you get to the end, the one character who actually says he's 'not good' (I'm not naming names, because spoilers) actually turns out to be the best. Seriously, trying to sort out the goodies from the baddies was like trying to run through a maze with no concept of north and south. Every new character that was introduced, I had to stop reading, assess them, their words, their body language and try to figure out their intentions before going on. It was awesome! It kept me on my toes, and I think I figured it out about the same time that Jude did.
On that note, OH MY GOD. JUDE. I don't want to say too much about anyone, because this books' brilliance relies so heavily on surprises, and not knowing who to trust, but... JUDE. I seriously will not be able to listen to the Beatles song ever again without thinking of this book. Funnily enough, the lyrics actually fit them in the mountains to a T. But I digress.

It's annoying that I can't say much without spoiling it all, but basically, you want to read this. You really, really want to read this. And Patch Cipriano better look out, because Ms Fitzpatrick is upping the ante here, and he's got serious competition. The level of sass if those two ever met... but I'm digressing again. Also, I was meant to be catching up on Sleepy Hollow, but am instead up way too late again. I really should know better by now.

My one question is, what on earth happened to Korbie? I hope she found herself a new friend, too. She deserves a Caz after everything; I can't really hold what she did against her, after all...

*mock glares at you all* go read it when it's out (That's October 7th, if you're wondering)! And watch out for a GIF review for this one at some point this week!
Here's the promised GIF review - full of spoilers, as usual ;)

Finale

Title: Finale (Hush, Hush #4)
Author: Becca Fitzpatrick
Genre: YA
Rating: 5/5
Cover: 8/10 - Hush, Hush and Crescendo will always be my favourite covers of this series.

HOLY SHENANIGANS.
I almost threw the book across the room at a point near the end there, because holy bejeesus, my EMOTIONS!
As I understand, my head will roll if I let any spoilers slip, so this is a strictly spoiler-free review. Be prepared for emotional outbursts, however.

First of all, Nora. I can't express how much I admire her in this book. Sure, there was a moment about halfway through when I felt like strangling some sense into her, and I had to put the book down for an hour to calm down, but those were extenuating circumstances. On the whole, I really felt like she matured so, so much. Reading through her point of view was a pleasure, because (aside from those... circumstances I mentioned above), she has no sense of her own power and importance; she's the leader of the Nephilim, sure, and that gives her a hell of a lot of power, but she wants nothing to do with it. I loved seeing the hero (heroin, in this case) completely and most vehemently turn their back on their powerful task of saving the world that only they can do. It was so refreshing. I also felt that her relationship with Patch, which, let's face it, has always sizzled and sparked with sexual tension, and made me fan myself repeatedly, grew and expanded to so much more - without ever losing that inherent hotness that makes these books so addictive.
Patch... *dreamy sigh* what can I say about Patch that won't take me into an endless ramble about how amazing, hot and just all-around fan-freaking-tastic he is? Sure, I did say he was being an asshole. And he totally was. He was also being an asshole for all the right reasons - which doesn't excuse the asshole-ness, but it sure helps soften the blow. But I think the main thing about Patch is just how obvious his love for Nora is, and that makes me love him more than anything else. And while his protective streak might be a bit overwhelming, and controlling at times, he does know when to back down, and he trusts Nora enough to know that she can take care of herself, even though it's painfully clear he'd much rather she never had to even try fighting herself.
Vee... holy crap. That pretty much sums it all up. Just... holy crap. That came out of NOWHERE, and just hit me in the head and completely blindsided me. I knew Nora would eventually fess up to Vee, but I never, not in a million years, expected that sort of answer. I'm not sure what the deal was with that, exactly, though I get that it played a quite important part in the end (not the Epilogue, the end before that :P), though frankly, most of that could have been accomplished even without that little bomb dropped, so I'm really not sure. But hey, whatever. I also love her friendship with Nora. It's great that Nora has not only a real, steady (well... kind of) relationship, but also a true best friend.

A little quote from the book for my Patch ladies:
"'You dress to impress,' I said approvingly.
'No, Angel.' He leaned in, his teeth softly grazing my ear. 'I undress to impress.'"

You're most very welcome ;)

E o nosso dinheiro vai dando adeus, né...

"She knows what it's like to die. Now Death wants her back."

Paranormalcy, by Kiersten White

I have been - seriously - craving this book for God only knows how many months now. I've entered every single living contest I could possibly get my hands on. And I still haven't managed to get a copy to call my own. Which is highly saddening, it's true, and extremely frustrating, to say the least. But at least I'm sure that when I finally do read it, it'll be that much sweeter.
... So much for normal ;)

Firelight, by Sophie Jordan

Man, DRAGONS! I mean, really, that's hardly a very explored topic... I'm curious to see what becomes of this.

Crescendo, by Becca Fitzpatrick
What can I say? I actually DID win an ARC copy of this, though it seems to be a wee bit late in arriving... but Becca is a really sweet girl, and Hush, Hush was very different, and I mean this in a good way. Can't wait for my copy to arrive.

The DUFF, by Kody Keplinger

From all I've heard from this one, it's also a book I've been wanting for a few months already, and you cannot imagine my surprise and happiness when I found out Kody was only 18. Cheers for YA being written by Young Adults!

Anna and the French Kiss, by Stephanie Perkins

Excuse me? French men? Paris (don't try to tell me it doesn't take place in Paris; I can see the Eiffel Tower!)? And a cover like that? I don’t think I need to say anything else.

And, last but anything but least... even though it's slightly far from the date, the fangirl in me won't let me end this post without mentioning this one book...

Last Sacrifice, by Richelle Mead (out on December 7th - cover in countdown on the sidebar)
All I can say to this one is... TEAM DIMITRI! Oh, and also... Holy Mary Mother of Sweet Baby Jesus, Richelle sure knows how to pull on my heart strings. It's hardly fair how she's got me hooked on this totally fictional character... but, well, it's Dimitri, so yeah, you know.

And... geez. What's up with the covers? I don't think I've ever seen such a lovely blog post in here ever before. Really, these covers are just getting better by the second. I applaud the editors for this job - it's really a good thing for sales, not to mention it's always nice to look at a bookshelf and be rewarded with such beauties!

Resenha: Hush, Hush

Sou a primeira a me render hoje.
